Moothy Al-Nwaisir is a Saudi-American artist born in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Drawing from memory, place, and material transformation, her practice explores the ways landscapes, architecture, and organic matter carry traces of lived experience. Rooted in observations of Jeddah’s evolving landscape, her work reflects an ongoing engagement with the city’s built environment and the subtle imprints left by time, climate, and change.

A defining aspect of Al-Nwaisir’s practice is the incorporation of withered flowers into her pigments. Drawn to their altered forms, textures, and material fragility, she transforms organic remnants into carriers of memory, embedding them within the surface of her paintings. Through this process, her works become reflections on impermanence, preservation, and the emotional resonance of place.

Working in painting and mixed media, Al-Nwaisir combines layered surfaces, gestural mark-making, and material experimentation. Her compositions balance muted passages with moments of bold intervention, creating works that foreground texture, accumulation, and the passage of time. Her background in illustration continues to inform her approach to mark-making, composition, and visual storytelling.

Al-Nwaisir holds a BA in Illustration from the University for the Creative Arts in London.
